It is the branch of biology that aims to understand the mechanisms of living things, from the basis of cell function at the ionic and molecular level to the integrated behavior of the whole body and the influence of the external environment. Research in physiology helps us to understand how the body works in health and how it responds and adapts to the challenges of everyday life.
Physiology is one of the most important and applied fields in health sciences entitled even for the Nobel Prize as it is the core of all medical research being done all over the world and that is the reason it is called the "Mother of Medicine ".
The department of Physiology, FMC, aims to evolve as a modern integrated teaching system for students. Large Group Interactive Sessions (LGIS), Case-Based Learning Sessions (CBLS), Problem Based Learning (PBL), Practicals and Demonstrations are part of the department’s routine teaching strategies to impart critical thinking to the 1st and 2nd year medical undergraduates. The whole physiology department is well equipped with latest technology.
Physiology laboratory is well equipped with latest and modern gadgets, apparatus and instruments. It has been established with the required infrastructure and manned by professional and qualified faculty. The course provides basis for the study of all clinical subjects, especially Pathology and Medicine.
